FORNEY, Texas – The Forney Independent School District Board of Trustees raised more than $8,000 for scholarships at the inaugural Forney ISD Board of Trustees Sunset Scramble Scholarship Golf Tournament which was held on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Creekview Golf Course in Crandall, Texas. The money raised from the tournament will go towards scholarships for a senior from Forney High School and North Forney High School from this year’s graduating classes.

FORNEY, Texas – The Verizon Foundation recently presented a $10,000 grant to a team of engineering students at Forney High School for winning the Verizon National Innovative Mobile App Competition. The grant was awarded to the students by Verizon Vice President of External Affairs, David Russell during a reception held in the board room at the Forney ISD Central Administration building on Friday, May 3.

The Forney Independent School District administrators and staff recently recognized the members of the Forney ISD Board of Trustees for their support and dedication during the 2011-2012 school year. The District noted the board’s hard work and devotion to the students and staff which has helped the District overcome several obstacles and difficulties to continue to be recognized as an outstanding academic school district in the State of Texas.

AUSTIN, Texas – The State of Texas Comptroller’s Office recently awarded school districts and other governmental organizations across the state for their efforts to meet a high standard of financial transparency online. The State of Texas Comptroller, Susan Combs, recently announced the districts that were recognized for having the highest standards of achieving financial transparency online with the Gold Leadership Circle Award, the Silver Leadership Circle Award or the Bronze Leadership Circle Award.

FORNEY, Texas – The Forney Independent School District Board of Trustees and District administrators received the 2011-2012 Financial Audit Report from the District’s external audit firm, Whitley Penn, during the Board’s regular monthly meeting on Monday, Nov. 12, 2012. The audit was presented to the Board by Celina Miller, an audit representative from the Whitley Penn Audit Firm.

FORNEY, Texas – The Forney Independent School District Board of Trustees held a special Board meeting on Monday, June 25, 2012 and unanimously approved the 2012-2013 District budget. The approval of the budget at the meeting was the culmination of a six-month process involving the Board and Forney ISD administrators that included monthly meetings and budget workshops.

Tickets to all Forney ISD varsity football games will go on sale beginning July 23. The first tickets that will be available will be for all returning season ticket holders.

Forney High School has six home games this year and North Forney High School has five home games. Season ticket packets for Forney High School are $48 per packet and North Forney High School season ticket packets are $40 per packet.

FORNEY, Texas – The Forney Independent School District recently announced new principals for elementary schools in the District.

HOUSTON, Texas – Several Forney High School students were recently notified that they had been selected to the NASA High School Aerospace Scholars Program. Three of the students completed the program and one was selected to attend a six-day NASA Johnson Space Center residency program.
