15:10-- yesitsme: I did use a thermometer. Was still tricky.
15:12-- BAShaun: interesting news on Chiloso. Looks like the rumor was probably true.
15:13-- yesitsme: Yea.. I thought it was interesting.
15:13-- yesitsme: AND I agree with you; both exciting AND disappointing
15:14-- BAShaun: werd
15:14-- BAShaun: I sure was looking forward to having their tacos close by. :(
15:15-- yesitsme: I guess.. you and the Forney Community apparently
15:16-- yesitsme: ... it said they will still be doing (at least) breakfast tacos.
15:17-- yesitsme: I don't know what Texas comfort foods are.
15:17-- yesitsme: Not really, since I'm not native.
15:19-- BAShaun: CFS, biscuits & gravy, roast, maybe chili, etc
15:20-- yesitsme: mmm
15:20-- yesitsme: I see. Not mmm as in "mmm good"
15:36-- BAShaun: LOL
15:36-- BAShaun: I have no idea if that's what will be on the menu, just guessing
17:36-- l8nighter: that is interesting about chiloso... still gonna open with a completely new, untested, concept vs the concept they originated and have tested and proven to be profitable, because why?? I cant believe that some type of restrictive clause or covenant would be discovered this far into build out that was not discovered well before even a letter of intent, much less signing of a lease
18:05-- l8nighter: high country area dps/kcso chase last night ... http://inforney.com/home/local-news/item/1107-overnight-dps-and-kcso-searched-yields-one-arrest
18:21-- yesitsme: chiloso; well believe it dude. It looks that way, although we don't know beyond a doubt.
18:31-- l8nighter: there were probably some type of lease consolations made in lieu of serious litigation
18:33-- yesitsme: that would be great for them - facilitates the opp to try their new 'thing'.
18:34-- l8nighter: that is sort of what i am thinking may have happened
18:34-- yesitsme: Bet developer/owner learned a thing.
18:34-- yesitsme: This is SO much speculation! SMH
18:35-- yesitsme: You can guess all day long.
18:35-- l8nighter: somewhat of an educated guess based on what they have said
18:36-- yesitsme: sommerwhatie.. TO ME; nothing they have said indicates THAT
18:36-- l8nighter: i do not believe leprechauns or the easter bunny were involved in any way.
18:38-- Tex: I can't beleive anyone actually entertained the idea of opening yet another Mexican food joint no matter how special they think it is...
18:38-- yesitsme: wut? -- the words that stood out to me were "an agreeable compromise could NOT be reached"
18:39-- yesitsme: sorry.. "wut?" was to l8nighter.
18:39-- Tex: ^ I guessed that much
18:39-- l8nighter: a compromise to serve food which was unable to be served in the first beginning
18:39-- yesitsme: o good!. Tex - doncha know EVERYONE likes mexi or texmex food. Never enough.
18:40-- l8nighter: tex, i think a lot of ppl believe that cristinas future is not very long
18:41-- yesitsme: They still get a lot of biz... I don't know why ppl believe that
18:41-- l8nighter: chiloso is more of a "subway" concept for tacos, burritos, etc
18:41-- Tex: LOL outside of a joint I went to in New Mexico in the mid 80's I haven't found anything special about anything "Tex-Mex or Mexican" here in DFW
18:41-- l8nighter: rio lerma is as close as it comes to special
18:41-- yesitsme: omg... wow. You're outside the norm. hahaha
18:42-- Tex: Hmmm I like Christina's but they are too pricey for what you get, they seem to thrive everywhere else they are though...
18:43-- Tex: I prefer to make my own "Texican" food at home
18:43-- yesitsme: Mine sucks
18:43-- yesitsme: hahah
18:43-- yesitsme: ... just not the same
18:45-- yesitsme: I'll be glad to try yours
18:46-- Tex: l8nighter: chiloso is more of a "subway" concept for tacos, burritos, etc
18:47-- Tex: ^Isn't that what ummm dang it what is the name of that chain
18:47-- yesitsme: Chipotle Grill?
18:47-- Tex: There is one near town east
18:47-- Tex: Yup that's it!
18:47-- yesitsme: Yea .. that then
18:48-- Tex: Don't care for them either LOL
18:48-- yesitsme: Would seem to me. I never been to Chiloso though. (Don't leave town as BAShaun pointed out) LOL
18:48-- yesitsme: I didn't really either
18:49-- Tex: Yeah I try not to leave town as much as possible...I have to spend this weekend in Plano though...
18:49-- yesitsme: ah well. Could be worse
18:50-- Tex: True could be "Pleasant" Grove instead I guess...
18:50-- yesitsme: hahah
2:57-- yesitsme: It'sLikeABayouOutThere
2:58-- yesitsme: Yuk...

TOPIC: MGlen Foundation (Pitching Duchenne)

MGlen Foundation (Pitching Duchenne) 1 year ago #1

My name is Matthew Martin and I live in Forney. I started The MGlen Foundation. Our mission is to have young boys with Duchenne throw out ceremonial first pitches for young men who can no longer throw, whom are both affected by this disease. Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy affects 3,500 boys every year, and greatly limits their lifespan, putting them in wheelchairs early on as their muscles deteriorate.

In order to fight this disease head on, we need to spread awareness about this terrible disease and involve the community. Over the past two baseball seasons, the MGlen Foundation has had the opportunity to throw out the first pitch in Grand Prairie, Texas and in Frisco, Texas. We have another opportunity to throw out the first pitch for the Texas Ranger affiliate Frisco Roughriders game on June 14th of this year. We are also in the process of scheduling 3 other opportunities this summer as well.

We are in need of donations to help us keep this mission going. If you would like to donate you can respond and I will provide our link to PayPal or I will send you the address if you'd like to send us a check.

If you can't donate to us please pray for our foundation and the cause.

Thanks,
Matthew Martin

You know I have been behind you awhile MGM.. and I believe in raising awareness for Duchenne MD, BUT .. can you please explain why donations are needed for the mission of having boys w Duchenne pitch the ceremonial first pitch at baseball games? ...... Is it for transportation costs, nurses, chaperones, baseball tickets.. or what?

Donations are needed for transportation, advertising, tickets for families, website, and the eventual donation on the direct effort to find a cure. Medical research has come a long way and are close to finding a cure. The thing is, however that not a lot of people know what Duchenne is. That's why we need donations, so that we can get out there and expose this disease.

Yes of course donations for a cure are always needed.

You answered my main question perfectly, and it makes perfect sense.
I forgot about advertising and a website, and tickets for families, etc.

Thanks!
