Did the Fredo's tonight, food was good, fresh, upscale-ish. Biggest problem is location which seems even smaller than it was before. It felt packed with less than 20 people in there, 2 of which had babies, and one was a party of 8 with 4 adults and 4 kids. Not sure why all those people didn't just go to one of our many mexican places because this place is just not for kids. With an adult-only crowd, it would be ok.
The food was... um, different. Is there such a thing as "california italian?" That's how I would describe it. I think best advice would be to order a pie to go, and when you pick it up you can kinda check out the place and try their food at same time.
I apologize for picture quality of the food... i need a new phone, i have the same blackberry for over 3 years now. One is a lasagna (note the green pesto on top) and other is a one-half order of Frutti Di Mare (a seafood, pasta, sauce dish). The sauce needed something... when i asked for red pepper, the guy kinda looked at me like i was speaking greek. But that is what it needed. The bread served before dinner is basically their pizza dough baked with italian herbs and spices on it and served with a marinara, both of which were good (but nothing compared to napoli's garlic knots).
And the menu scans are sort of weird because the paper menus are black print on a greyscale background, but if you zoom in, you can read ok.
My bottom line is, hello napoli's and thank you for being here (i prefer their ricotta, mozzarella, bread), and best wishes and good luck to Fredo's. The location just sort of kills it for me.
Edit: I just noticed they have a website for Terrell location, I believe menu is same though for Forney, not sure.
