TOPIC: Bread Machines

Bread Machines 1 year ago #1

Does anyone use a bread machine? I love mine but currently only know how to make white bread with it. I would love to get more use out of it. Any help would be appreciated!

There are so many possible things you can do and make with a bread machine.

The first step is a trip to the grocery store where, besides staples like soup and crackers for when you are not feeling well, you will find other things such as pre-fab bread machine mixes. Or, you can google "bread machine recipes" and that will keep you busy for a good long while.

In general, you really want to stay away from the pure white breads. You can do a pure whole wheat or a 50/50 whole wheat / white type of bread. Always use fresh yeast. Always use bread flour (different than AP or all purpose flour, cake flour, etc). In fact, there is specific bread machine flour that is even harder than regular bread flour.

The instructions with your bread machine will have tons of ideas and recipes. If you lost them, just google the make and model of the machine for more info. Buy some Prego sauce. Make a pizza dough with the machine. Get some mozzarella cheese (the kind in the round, not kraft), add some olive oil and whatever toppings. Fire the oven to 450 and chunk it in there.

So you might get a couple wrong here and there... keep trying and decide what you like. There is nothing more fun and rewarding than cooking.

I have one too.. and use it weekly to make pure white bread for the dh. He thinks 'it's
just like his mom used to make' (the old fashioned way).

What I don't like is how it turns in just 3 or 4 days... because of lack of preservatives, which is a good thing I guess. He just got to eat it up fast - and he usually does.
It's too hot - or cold - or mild ... outside
