Yum-Yum has been an “at home” online based business since 2008, and though they developed a bit of a cult following, many Forney residents never knew they existed. Lazy J has a touch of the same problem, an extremely loyal customer base, combined with some residents that don't know that they exist. The owners hope that they can bring their customers together to see what an asset both businesses are to Forney.
Lazy J is owned by Donna and William Grice and Yum-Yum Bakery is owned by Jaime Zapata. Before Lazy Coffee opened their doors they talked to Jaime about bringing in her baked goods to sell at the shop. Unfortunately red tape prevented it from happening right away. Now all the permits are in place and a new kitchen was added at Lazy J so Jaime can bake her wonderful cakes, cupcakes, and pies for customers. She has just added another baker to help her be able to not only meet all of her cake orders, but to also fill the Lazy J display cases with a variety of goods. She certainly could use the help, just last weekend she baked and decorated 42 cakes that were ordered by customers.
Forney resident Jaime Zapata knows that her partnership with Lazy J can be a great success, “I'm very goal oriented and I want this to be a special place for people to come, enjoy the great atmosphere here, drink some wonderful coffee, and grab a piece of pie!” She added, “Everyone should know about this place.” Fruit-filled kolaches, fresh baked cookies, cheese cake, cup cakes, and pies will soon be available for purchase. In the meantime, you can still order birthday cakes, wedding cakes, pies, and more by visiting the Yum-Yum Bakery website at www.yum-yumbakery.com.
Donna Grice is excited about the Lazy J Coffee and Yum-Yum Bakery partnership, “I think Jaime coming here will bring the shop to its full potential.” Donna feels that together they can both make their dreams come true and hopefully open a second shop in nearby Rockwall someday. She has gone above and beyond to create a feeling of home inside her Forney coffee shop and on most Friday and Saturday nights you can hear local musicians playing live inside Lazy J. On Wednesday mornings local home-schooling moms and their children descend on the shop, which creates a lively atmosphere. Most days however you can sit quietly and visit with a friend or break out the laptop and get some work done. Lazy J and Yum-Yum hope to shed their reputations as the best kept secrets in Forney, let them know that inForney.com is helping them do just that.
Update: **The display case is now reguarly full of Yum-Yum Bakery goodies, so go give them a try!**
