Patrick and Monica McCrea are the owners of the popular restaurant. The McCrea family has bounced back from losing their family home in the April 3rd tornado. The tornado downtown just missed hitting Doe Belly's, but unfortunately their Diamond Creek home was not as lucky. The family is renting a house while their home is rebuilt and they are thankful to still have their business to celebrate with customers.
Monica McCrea said, “We're still here...we celebrate each year because it's such an amazing accomplishment to make it from year to year in this economy.” Anyone who has attended a party at Doe Belly's knows that they do it right. This year they plan on having the Wesley Pruitt Band out of Canton as their performers. They will be playing from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The party actually starts at 5 p.m. and McCrea says it lasts, “Until the last person goes home!”
The event will be set up outside around the patio and the larger area of the parking lot and folks are welcome to bring lawn chairs for extra seating. They will have additional chairs and tables set up under the patio as well. They will offer their regular menu with specials throughout the evening. McCrea said they intend to have a dance area because people have been suggesting it for this event. They will have free daiquiris, beer, and hurricanes and will be giving out Doe Belly coupons and other freebies, including plenty of beads!
Doe Belly's is located at 300 W. Broad Street in downtown Forney. It is the most popular cajun catfish restaurant in the DFW area, so come out to celebrate their success on August 25.
