The FM 740/Pinson Road construction project in Forney was officially kicked off on Tuesday, March 26, in a ceremonial “dirt turning” at Criswell Elementary School. The groundbreaking marks the beginning of the third and final road project which was paid for by a road improvement bond that Forney taxpayers passed back in 2006.

It finally happened. The entire intersection at FM 548 and FM 741 in Forney was closed down as of 5:10 p.m. on Friday March 9, 2012. The closure is expected to last until March 19 when FISD schools reopen after spring break.

Four Forney police officers assisted in detouring traffic as the road construction crew quickly set up barricades. It was fortunate that the FPD officers were on scene because the construction crew was attempting to set up the barricades in such a manner that they would have completely blocked off access to the Kickapoo Trace Center. The crew insisted that they needed more room to work, but police quickly explained that blocking the entrance to the businesses was not an option.
