Crumbzz Tasting Pavilion and Gallery of the Arts welcomes huge crowd for Grand Opening

| Crumbzz Grand Opening Jan 28 2012 Forney TX The excitement was clearly in the air at the Crumbzz Tasting Pavilion on Saturday morning, January 28, 2012. Forney Arts Council members were stationed outside the newly remodeled vintage building at 212 S. Bois D’ Arc Street in downtown Forney. They welcomed guests and shared their love of the FAC and their new partnership with Crumbzz owner J. Stephen Sadler.

The exterior of the building has been completely redone and is a beautiful addition to downtown. From the smart “Crumbzz” sign out front, to the wonderful side patio open seating area, this new business fits wonderfully as a beginning step in what downtown Forney hopes to become. The pavilion donates three percent of their profits to the Crumbzz Green Foundation.

J. Stephen Sadler was hurrying about to prepare his kitchen, lead his team and still find time to welcome the masses of community members coming in to wish him well. He took time out to stop and snap pictures of the event on his cell phone, taking in the moment. Sadler flashed a welcoming smile and explained why he came to Forney, “A lot of people ask me, why Forney? It’s an inviting town and Forney EDC’s Executive Director Kim Buttram was a big part of my decision to come here. She is a great salesperson for this community.”

Sadler explained the attention to detail that he took in designing the interior of Crumbzz. There is seating for about 40 plus people, including a nice area with full view of the open kitchen. The marble counter comes from the same quarry as Michael Angelo’s Statue of David. The slate flooring came from the Blue Ridge Mountains. Nickel plated light fixtures, beautifully designed tables and chairs and a comfortable paint scheme, matched perfectly with the impressive art work on the walls. All of the art is for sale and many of the pieces garnered the interest of customers. Those there for the grand opening found themselves enticed to make bids on a number of items that were being auctioned off to benefit the Forney Arts Council.

Live music was performed by local musicians and artist demonstrated how to create pottery, do charcoal portraits and paint watercolor images. It was just a taste of what Crumbzz and the FAC intends to showcase in future events.

The only thing better than the design and comfort of Crumbzz Tasting Pavilion was the food. They have crowned themselves as “Forney’s first downtown breakfast bistro” and they intend to make breakfast and brunch an exquisite experience for local residents. In the next couple of weeks they will be introducing additional items to the menu, such as omelets, soufflés and specialty pancakes and waffles. In the meantime, try their delicious Cinnamon Streusel Crumb Cake or the Chocolate de la Terre Crumb Cake and prepare to have your taste buds delighted. Oh ,and do it guilt free because one crumb cake slice is only 320 calories!
