The accident occurred around 11 p.m. when Warren Ray Patton, 32, of Kaufman, inexplicably drove his BMW northbound in the FM 741 southbound lane. The BMW struck Farley's full size Chevy truck head on and killed the 41-year-old Constable instantly. Patton was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital with injuries but is expected to recover. The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the accident and have ordered a toxicology report to determine if Patton was drunk at the time of the accident.
Guy Farley lived in the Heartland addition off of FM 741 in Forney. He was married and has two daughters, one of whom is only 4-years-old. Farley and his wife had taken their youngest daughter to her dance recital and then returned home. He went to the Crandall Whataburger afterwards to pick up a late meal. The accident occurred on his way home, just four miles from his house.
Farley was known as a man with a quick wit and a kind heart, as well as a wicked sense of humor. He and his wife Amber were married for seven years and enjoyed being part of the Forney community. Farley was well liked and respected by his co-workers and in Forney. His friends have set up a benefit website page at http://WWW.deputyfarleybenefit.com/ to help raise funds for his widow and children. Forney has always been a town full of people with huge hearts who are willing to help out their fellow man. If you are able to donate any amount to help out Constable Farley's family in their time of need, please go to the benefit page and click on the PayPal donation link.
There will be a viewing at the Laurel Oaks Funeral Home in Mesquite on Tuesday, June 12 from 6-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday the 13th at 10 a.m. at Laurel Oaks.
