Forney Arts Council planning downtown art festival

| crumbzThe Forney Arts Council held their monthly meeting at the Crumbzz Tasting Pavilion and Gallery of the Arts on Monday, February 20, 2012. The meeting was full of enthusiastic people, including new members that are eager to participate in Forney’s arts movement.

One of the exciting pieces of news the council members discussed was a potential Art Festival to be held this October in downtown Forney. There are a great number of local artists and North Texas artists that have expressed a real desire to participate in a Forney Art Festival. The planning for the event must start immediately in order to make it happen, and the FAC is on top of it.

The FAC was happy to announce that the silent auction at the Crumbzz Grand Opening raised $1,116. The money is part of a scholarship fund to assist anyone who would like to take FAC art classes, who may not otherwise be able to afford it. Future classes planned include painting, pottery, and dance.

The Forney Live House Concerts have proven to be a success and the next planned concert is classical guitarist Brent Bassham who will be performing at 400 S. Center Street on March 24, 2012. Tickets are $10 and will be available for purchase online at www.forneyarts.org. Crumbzz has been having local musicians perform from 6-9 p.m. each Friday night. They announced that they will be having a $5 cover fee for some of those Friday evening performances, depending on the scheduled entertainment.

The FAC also pointed out that the current art show on display at Crumbzz will be replaced with new art after March 3, 2012. They hope to include three dimensional art in their next showing.

If you are interested in becoming an FAC member, you can check the www.forneyarts.org website for more information.
