FM 741 construction and precautionary updates for Forney drivers

As promised, all four lanes of FM 741, also known as College Ave, were open for the first day of school in Forney, TX. There are still a couple of months of road work to be completed. Drivers should expect lane closures during the day and possibly on the weekends while crews continue to finish work on the medians, driveways, approaches, and sidewalks.

Drivers also should take caution when crossing or entering FM 741 at Chestnut, during the early stages of construction the intersection was a 4-way stop. Drivers entering or crossing FM 741 at Chestnut will need to stop and yield to FM 741.

Another thing drivers should watch for are other wrong way drivers. There have been several cars that are not using the proper side of the road, many drivers are accidentally going on the wrong side of FM 741 where the road was previously a 2-way.

It should be noted now that 741 is open, the light at 740 is back to being a regular signal and not a blinking yellow. I witnessed on Sunday 3 different cars running North & South on 740 running that light while red, including one that almost hit me.
