After unseating 6 term Representative Betty Brown, Lance Gooden will be up against Stuart Spitzer for State Representative. Former Tax Assessor-Collector Dick Murphy left his seat as Kaufman County Tax Assessor-Collector, this position was filed by three individuals, Brenda Samples, Tonya Ratcliff, and Teressa Floyd . Kaufman County Sheriff election will be between long standing Chief David Byrnes and Richard Clemmo, Kemps former Chief of Police before the Kemp City Council disbanded the Kemp Police Department over budget constraints. Kaufman County Constable Precinct 2 will be between incumbent Joe Don Law and Jason "JJ" Johnson who is a sergeant at the Dallas County Constables office.
