The regularly scheduled Forney City Council meeting on August 21, 2012 will be held at the Mick Spellman Amphitheater at 7:00 p.m. City Council meetings are normally held at Forney City Hall at 202 E. Main Street.
The Spellman Amphitheater has been in recent headlines concerning the addition of the Entertainment Overlay District to blanket the enclosed area surrounding the amphitheater. The Entertainment Overlay District would allow for the sale and consumption of alcohol during four previously discussed events. Many residents have only seen the outside of the facility and have not been able to enter and experience what the Spellman has to offer the City of Forney.
Discussion, including policies, procedures, and ordinances related to the operation of the Spellman Amphitheater are some of the items included on the agenda. The inclusion of these items will allow the council to address concerns that were previously raised by residents attending the August 7th City Council meeting.
Also on the agenda are discussions and possible actions on authorizing the City Manager to negotiate an engineering contract with H. W. Lochner, Inc. to help redesign the ramps on the south side of U.S. Highway 80 between FM 460 and FM 740. They will also discuss insurance consulting services, distribution of HOT Funds, and the leasing of the clock tower ATM downtown.
Because this is a regularly scheduled City Council meeting, there is time set aside for an open forum/citizen comment section.
Editors Note: This City Council setting is outside, be sure to bring or apply mosquito repellant with DEET.
