7-year-old Emily Hough of Forney has already been through much adversity in her young life, having been diagnosed with Juvenile Dermatomyositis when she was a Kindergarten student at Crosby Elementary. The disease affects only 3 out of every 1 million children. Emily's struggles were brought to the attention of the
Make-A-Wish Foundation, who granted Emily's wish for a Disney Cruise to the Bahamas. Friends and family met on Saturday, February 23, for a bon voyage party for Emily at Rio Lerma Mexican Restaurant.

The reward offered by the Kaufman County Crime Stoppers has now grown to over $100,000 to information leading to an arrest and conviction in the Mark Hasse murder case. Hasse was murdered January 31,2013, as he walked to the Kaufman County Courthouse.

The Forney Police Department needs the community's assistance with a vehicle burglary problem occurring in the parking lots of the Starplex movie theater, Wal-Mart, and Lowe's near FM 548 and Highway 80. Vehicle burglaries are on the rise in that area and officers would like to catch the individual or individuals responsible.

The waiting continues for the trial between Pate Transportation Partners and Forney Roadbuilders (FRB) versus the City of Forney. The already rescheduled trial date of February 26th has once again been rescheduled for trial on April 30 through May 3, allowing for three and a half trial days.

The Forney City Council voted 5-2 to approve an agenda bill submitted by City Manager Brian Brooks on Tuesday, February 19, that dealt with a 125.802 acre tract of land that is located on the northwest corner of I-20 and FM 741. The land is not in the Forney city limits, but is within the Forney extraterritorial jurisdiction, known as the ETJ.

**Updated at bottom of article** On February 19, the Forney City Council voted on a request from USA Professional Services Group, a land surveyor company, to approve a preliminary plat of 14.317 acres in the Meadow Ridge Farm planned Development District near the new
Gateway Bridge. The piece of land will be used to build an upscale apartment complex called The Cedars at Gateway.

The Terrell Police Department is investigating a burglary at the Texas Army National Guard Armory in Terrell, Texas, located at 1316 West Moore Avenue. Personnel at the armory reported the break-in to the Terrell Police department and reported a stolen military Humvee.
