Forney ISD Students Advance to Texas Spanish Spelling Bee State Competition

FORNEY, TX — Two talented dual language students from Forney ISD have achieved a remarkable milestone by qualifying for the 2025 Texas Spanish Spelling Bee, set to take place June 18–19 in El Paso, Texas.

Jazlyn Zambrano, a 4th-grade student at Wilson Elementary School, and Gabriela Perez-Bacot, a 6th-grade student at Jones Intermediate School, earned their spots at the state-level competition following impressive performances at the Region 10 Spanish Spelling Bee, held on March 26 by the Region 10 Education Service Center.

Jazlyn secured 3rd place in the 4th–5th grade division, while Gabriela took home 2nd place in the 6th–8th grade division.

Their success not only highlights their dedication and linguistic excellence but also reflects the strength of Forney ISD’s dual language programs. As they head to the state competition, Jazlyn and Gabriela will join top Spanish spellers from across Texas with the chance to qualify for the National Spanish Spelling Bee.

We are incredibly proud of their accomplishments and wish them the best as they represent Forney ISD on the state stage.
