Woman falls to death after falling from climbing wall at Grapevine gym

A 52-year-old woman fell to her death around 5 p.m. Sunday, September 22, 2013, after losing her grip on a climbing wall and plunging 25 to 30 feet at Summit Climbing Gym in Grapevine, Texas. She was pronounced dead at Parkland Memorial Hospital after being transported by Care Flight.
According to Grapevine Police, the woman was not properly attached to a rope device intended to slow the fall of a climber who may slip from the climbing wall and slow their descent to the ground. The gym is currently closed pending the police investigation into the equipment given to the woman and the procedures followed on-site prior to allowing a person to climb.

The Dallas County medical examiner identified the victim as Susan Mailloux, of Irving.
